Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information tnresult.in (tnresult.in) collects, how we use it and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible. We never ask for, collect or store examination registration numbers, dates of birth or marks.
Information we collect
Contact form
When you use our contact form we receive your name, email address, subject and message. We use them only to reply to you and to handle correction requests. Messages are delivered to our email inbox and may be stored in our website database so we can track replies. To prevent spam, we keep a temporary, one-way hashed form of your IP address for up to one hour to limit repeated submissions.
Comments
If comments are open and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a limited period set by the host.
Cookies and local storage
- Display preference: if you switch dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Comment cookies: if you leave a comment you can choose to save your name and email in cookies for convenience.
- Analytics cookies: if we use an analytics service (such as Google Analytics), it sets cookies to measure visits in aggregate. We do not use analytics to identify individuals.
- Advertising cookies: see below.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used.
Third-party services and links
We link to official websites such as dge.tn.gov.in and tnresults.nic.in. When you leave our site, the other website’s privacy policy applies. Embedded content (for example videos) behaves as if you visited the other website.
How long we keep data
- Contact messages: up to 24 months, then deleted, unless needed for a correction record.
- Rate-limit IP hashes: up to 1 hour.
- Comments: kept until the comment is deleted.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help run the website (hosting, email delivery), or when required by law.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and withdraw consent at any time, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 where it applies. Write to us through the Contact page. We respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Our content is for students, many of whom are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what a contact message contains, and we ask students not to share personal or examination details with us.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
