Overview
The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu publishes the results of three state board public examinations every year: the SSLC (Class 10), the Higher Secondary First Year (+1, Class 11) and the Higher Secondary Second Year (+2, Class 12). Results are released online on tnresults.nic.in and dge.tn.gov.in, and students log in with their registration number and date of birth.
This guide brings everything a student needs into one place: the current result status for each examination, the expected and confirmed result dates, step-by-step instructions, what the marksheet contains, passing marks, revaluation, supplementary exams and past statistics, with every fact linked to an official DGE source.

Before and after the result
The unique number DGE assigns to each candidate, printed on the hall ticket. You need it for the result, marksheet, revaluation and supplementary applications. Lost it? Your school can tell you.
Hall ticket guideOnline result first, then a provisional mark certificate DGE releases for download a few days later, then the original certificate through your school. Know which one you have.
Marksheet guideYou need at least 35 out of 100 in each subject. Tamil Nadu board results are issued as marks, not letter grades.
Passing marks guideRegular students receive hall tickets through their school; private candidates download them from the DGE hall ticket portal. Check every detail before the exams.
Hall ticket guideDownload the scanned copy of your answer script when DGE opens the window, then apply for retotalling or revaluation within the dates in the press release.

Straight from DGE
DGE's published examination schedule lists tentative result dates of May 7, 2027 for HSE (+2) and May 20, 2027 for SSLC. Tentative dates can change. A result is final only when DGE officially announces it, and our status cards switch to "Declared" only after we verify that announcement.
Open the official result website tnresults.nic.in (or dge.tn.gov.in). Click the SSLC result link, enter your registration number and date of birth exactly as on your hall ticket, and submit. Save or print the page. The online result is for immediate information; it is not the original marksheet.
Open the official result website tnresults.nic.in (or dge.tn.gov.in). Click the HSE (+1) result link, enter your registration number and date of birth exactly as on your hall ticket, and submit. Save or print the page. The online result is for immediate information; it is not the original marksheet. Note: under a Government Order issued in October 2025, Class 11 students from 2025-26 are assessed by their schools, and the +1 public examination continues only for arrear candidates until March 2030.
Open the official result website tnresults.nic.in (or dge.tn.gov.in). Click the HSE (+2) result link, enter your registration number and date of birth exactly as on your hall ticket, and submit. Save or print the page. The online result is for immediate information; it is not the original marksheet.
The official result page asks for your registration number and your date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY). Keep your hall ticket with you so you can copy the number exactly.
In 2026, Tamil Nadu board results were reported to be available on DigiLocker as well as the DGE websites. For each year, DGE's press release lists the official channels. Use only digilocker.gov.in or results.digilocker.gov.in.
It is the unique number DGE assigns to each candidate for the public examination. It is printed on your hall ticket and is used for results, marksheets, revaluation and supplementary applications.
DGE usually releases provisional mark certificates on its website a few days after the result, and schools can download them for their students. The exact date and link are given in the official press release. The original marksheet is issued later through your school (or exam centre for private candidates).
Wait a few minutes and try again, as traffic is very high just after release. Use only alternatives DGE announces, such as SMS to the mobile number registered with your school or DigiLocker when announced, or ask your school. Never pay a website to see your result.
For Higher Secondary, DGE has offered a scanned copy (photocopy) of the answer script first; after seeing it, you can apply for revaluation of that subject. Applications are made through your school or notified centres within the dates in the DGE press release, and fees are listed in that notice.
Retotalling is a recount of the marks already awarded, to check for addition or posting errors. The answers are not marked again. Revised results are published by DGE after processing.
Students who did not pass or were absent can apply through their school (private candidates through notified centres) within the dates DGE announces after the main result. In recent years the supplementary exams were held in June and July.
